Linda Burch Oliver

February 17, 1954 - January 07, 2010

Linda Burch Oliver

Savannah- Linda passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home on January 7th, 2010, after a tough but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
She is survived by her husband, Martin; six children, Brian, Danika, Andrea, Ross, Jacob, and son-in-law, Jeremiah; five sisters, Sherry, Tina, Rina, Tawn, and Teresa, and 2 Scottish Terriers, Teddy and Chubbs.

Linda was our loving mom, wife, best friend, hair dresser and dog lover. She was most happy when shopping, watching Dancing with the Stars, and going out for sushi. As a hairdresser, her clients were more than just customer's; they were some of her best friends and family. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been there for her along the way.

There will be a gathering, Monday, January 11th, at 11:00 am, followed by a remembrance service at 12:00 noon, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. She will be laid to rest in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

We kindly ask that in lieu of sending flowers or other condolences that a donation in Linda's honor be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at http://www.firstgiving.com/lindaoliver

GUEST BOOK

There hasn't been a month that I hear Linda whisper in my ear, talk me up when I'm small, or remind me loving yourself is believing in yourself and that's where you begin. I will never forget the mornings of coffee and baileys, the trip to the Japanese resteraunt where you claimed me as your daughter, when you cut my hair and put hi-lights in it to make it not so black. I will never forget the love we shared for Ross. I will never forget the seagulls. I will never forget your love for me. I love you Linda. Ill keep my promise.

- Alaina, Atlanta, GA

Marty and Jacob, I just found out about Linda. She did my hair for many years. I thought someone in her family had gotten sick. I had no idea that she had been sick. I am so sorry for your loss. She was always so funny and caring. I enjoyed the time we spent together. She loved her family so much. She loved her scotties, too! She was interested in so many things. She always brought a smile to my face. We shared a lot of laughter and I will miss her. I know all of you will. I never knew anyone that enjoyed life more. Lynn

- Lynn Smith, Savannah, GA

To my family: I miss everyone, and I am crying while I write this. I hope that in the times of sorrow that the good memories of Linda will keep you strong. My only wish is for our family to be happy and stay in touch. To her sons and daughters, I miss you so very much. Your cousin, Sean

- Sean, ,

Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow, but remember me in every tomorrow. My going has eased my pain and given relief, so dry your eyes and forget your grief. Remember the joy, our laughter, my smile and that our being apart is just for awhile. Remember me also as I used to be. Understand in your hearts, so precious to me, that I've gone on ahead to dwell up above, and 'til we're once more together... You have all of my love.

- Jane, Savannah, GA

To Linda's family - Linda has cut mine and my daughters hair for 12 years. We followed her every where she went. My daughter didn't get her hair cut for almost a year because we lost her between salons and 'only Mrs. Linda would do it right'. We miss her greatly. She was a wonderful and kind person. Always looked forward to the conversations and the stories she had. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Elizabeth & Erin Tyson

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost track of her when I moved and was actually finally on my feet enough to where I could afford a trip back to Savannah for some girl time and was looking her number up when I found the obituary. Linda was a great hairdresser, a wonderful listener and a good friend. I know she will be missed by her family, friends and anyone who had the privelege to meet her. She was a true gem.

- Melba Reid, Atlanta, GA

Linda was my hairdresser for only a short time but I quickly came to know her as a kind, generous, and funny lady.
